Community Loom was first my attempt at creating a loom where the tension that the warp threads were under was made by a person on each end of it. In this case I was on one end weaving with a back-strap, while my classmates each had a back strap and one warp thread to be in charge of. In this community effort it was serendipitous that the Canadian Government had made a donation of lamp-post banners from cities across the country. These banners were used as the weft as well as back-straps for everyone who participated. Everyone took their back-strap home as a reminder of their participation in the project. |
