This past week it has been photo shoot galore!  Not only have I had my student pieces (from the past year and a  half) ALL professionally photographed, I have also had all of my recent clothing photographed with my beautiful friends, Jem and Sasha, as models and the wonderful Rhonda Hall photographing.  It was a beautiful day here in Vancouver, the first  no-rain day in a couple of weeks; perfect for a Stanley Park photo shoot.

Additionally I modeled for my friend Emily of Figment Textiles who makes the most amazing clothing.  My personal favourite is her hand-woven suit (pictured above...take note of my new Fluevogs).  She hand-dyed, wove and sewed the suit as well as designed it herself.  She's quite a talented cookie.  As far as I know she is getting a blog and website up this year sometime so I'll keep you posted.

Photo's from my line will be up soon.

Over Christmas I spent a night at my aunt Naomi's and pretty much brought my entire studio with me.  I went with the intentions teaching her and her three daughters (8, 11, 13) about textile art.  We ended up having two days of crazy craft time; 'crazy' being me thinking we should do EVERYTHING!

Here's what we did beginning at about 4pm on day one:

-hand-painted and steamed merino wool fleece
              -hand-painted and batched cotton yarn
-block printed with found objects, and hand-painted on cotton with pigment

On day two we wet felted with the wool we had painted the day before.  They all did such a great job and I had a blast.  I had the privilege of spending the night in Celia's loft bedroom with her.  We spent the evening discerning which drawings on her wall were our favourites (I miss being 8).  My aunt will think twice before inviting me over again; we were all pretty pooped by the end.

As you can tell they love rodents.  They pretty much have a little farm out there in Halfmoon Bay; three bunnies, one guinea pig, a dog and a hamster.

And yes, that is a bassoon Allison is holding (popular for it's melody in the Pink Panther song).

Tonight I visited Gentille Alouette and finally delivered Eliza's covet vest which I traded for one of her lovely dresses.  It took me a while to get it there since I have been having trouble discharging on that particular wool.  The technique I use is shibori pole wrapping and dip discharging but this wool was being unpredicable and inconsisitant.  Never-the-less, I finally got it to her and doesn't she look adorable?!

I got a little feature in the Canadian Design Resource website on my parking meter yarn graffiti.  I guess it ran in September but didn't see it 'til now (thanks Stacey)
